EVERY LAN MAY OR MAY NOT BE WITH WAN,BUT EVERY WAN WILL BE WITH LAN
LAN :~
A local area network (LAN) is a computer network that interconnects computers within a limited area such as a residence, school, laboratory, university campus or office building.
USES:A standard wired LAN uses Ethernet to connect devices together. Wireless LANs are typically created using a Wi-Fi signal. If a router supports both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections, it can be used to create a LAN with both wired and wireless devices.
EXAMPLES FOR LAN:-
1.ETHERNET :- A system for connecting a number of computer systems to form a local area network, with protocols to control the passing of information and to avoid simultaneous transmission by two or more systems.
2.Wi-Fi :-IEEE is a separate, but related, organization and their website has stated “WiFi is a short name for Wireless Fidelity”. To connect to a Wi-Fi LAN, a computer must be equipped with a wireless network interface controller.Ethernet and Wi-Fi are the two most common technologies in use for local area networks. Historical network technologies include ARCNET, Token ring, and AppleTalk.
WAN :~
A wide area network (also known as WAN), is a large network of information that is not tied to a single location. WANs can facilitate communication, the sharing of information and much more between devices from around the world through a WAN provider.
USES:A wide area network (WAN) is a data network, usually used for connecting computers, that spans a wide geographical area. WANs can be used to connect cities, states, or even countries.
EXAMPLES FOR WAN:-
INTERNET :- Internet is a vast network that connects computers all over the world. Through the Internet, people can share information and communicate from anywhere with an Internet connection.
**“Every LAN may or may not be with WAN,Every WAN will be with LAN”**
A LAN is a network classification that allows the devices present in a small region to get interconnected. While a WAN offers the interconnection of various devices that are situated at a considerable distance from each other.
Because a LAN ,abbreviated from Local Area Network is a Network that covers a small geographical areas such as homes ,offices and group of buildings .Whereas a WAN ,abbreviated from Wide Area Network,is a Network that covers larger geographical areas,Network over a large area like a city,a country or multiple countries.
WAN connects multiple LANs together .At home, your Local Area Network (LAN) might connect together devices over a distance measured in tens of metres. At work or school, the LAN might connect devices over hundreds of metres. A Wide Area Network (WAN) operates over a much larger area, as they interconnect LANs to allow them to exchange data.
